Our Good Friend Toto

Statutory Warning: This post may seem quite disgusting. So read with caution, you have been warned! :D Toto is one of our best friends. He is young, white(no racism) and has a tremendous capacity to tolerate our worst endeavors. Toto was born in India just about a few years ago and since then have been in service of the company I am working in. Many Totos stand in a line and eagerly wait for guys to come and meet them. They never complain, always wash down whatever they give with water, as soon as the guy leaves. It does not discriminate. To Toto the CEO of the company is no different from the security guard standing at the gate. Toto has got an automatic flushing mechanism that allows Toto to clean himself immediately after receiving the gift from the people. He is very health conscious you see. Apart from that the white color gets easily soiled, so keeping himself clean is a top priority. Toto is indispensable to our work. If Toto stops working, we will have to stop working in...

Bangalore - Where I now live!

Life in Bangalore Bangalore or Bengaluru is one of the strangest places I have ever been. First, I'll call it Bangalore. In any case I am not really fond of this place, and the official name just makes me go nuts. Literally! Bangalore techie in action! Lets start with the good things in Bangalore. The advantage is that for me there ain't much good here so this paragraph is going to be short! Bangalore has excellent weather, inspite of not being the hills. Weather in Bangalore is always temperate, with the mercury hovering from 68 and 78 Fahrenheit. So yeah, unlike in other Indian metro cities, here we don't have to sweat. Electricity costs are also cut down because we don't need air conditioners or even fans. The other good thing about Bangalore is its vicinity to various tourist spots in South India. Be it the Nilgiris or the Malabar, Konkan or Goa, all are within reach and easily. Seriously??? Now lets begin the negative aspects of the city. I will ment...

Girl meets Boy I

There was a guy who lived in Brussels. The girl lived in Madrid. The guy(lets name him Gaay, no not gay!) came to Madrid to work. The girl(lets name her Oldy) joined in the same company. In office they fell in love and things went happily ... no wait this is not a movie, so it was a bumpy ride :) After 3.5 months Gaay got transferred to Lisbon(not Lesbian) and both Gaay and Oldy were heartbroken at the news. But Gaay promised Oldy that he would return to Madrid to see her. Every month. After 3 weeks, Gaay got a ticket to Madrid and reached early in the morning. To surprise Oldy, he went direct to office. After about 1 hour of waiting, he saw her, in a beautiful white dress, walking slowly with all the elegance and poise that suits a princess. He went behind her and started walking beside her gently. After a few seconds she took notice, looked at him, wondering if it was a dream! She asked him, "Pinch me, is this real?". Gaay pinched her softly. She was silent, dead silen...

Here I come

Five months before I embarked on the unknown journey to Mumbai, I did not know what was going to happen. Everything was in the dark. In all my four years of college life I always looked for any chance to come back home when I got a holiday in the weekends.  No, this time its Bangalore to Mumbai! However now thing have changed so tremendously. All my thoughts focus on getting a chance to see her again. Who is she? No one. There is no blood relation. She lives 2000km from my hometown. She ain't Bengali, does not even understand Bengali, doesn't share any real tangible similarity. But I find peace in her. I found love in her. In an odd way I find a lot of things that are strikingly similar to my tastes. And here I am, rushing to Mumbai to meet her, to spend some time with her.  I have got a pretty big surprise for her on the 15th of August. I don't know if she knows what is coming. But then I am going to surprise her in a big way. I mean as big as my budget would...

Why using Google is NOT cheating!

We all love Google. There are very few who think Google is a curse than a boon. It is essential to know that the features provided by Google is overshadowed by the approach that Google follows. The cool, unsophisticated, abstract and catchy ideas attract us to the Google platform. Be it the Gmail, or picasa or Wave, Google has always reinvented all that existed before. From all our daily needs to requirements of projects, Google always comes to our help. But there are some people who loath the use of Google or any other search engine for that matter. Why a few think using Google is cheating? Some think that the infromation and knowledge you get from books or from instructors is the end of the world. In projects or in real life, information hunting using Google is simply not applying the education already received but simply copying similar solutions to the present situation. They believe Google restricts the capability to think independently and allows innovation. Why they are w...

Adieu Mumbai

Three and a half months after coming, living and loving a new place, the time has come, quite suddenly to leave. I have been transferred to Bangalore, err Bengaluru. Transfers are common in jobs as you all may have experienced. Indeed they are even necessary and desirable. But in this case I was truly very disturbed to be forced to leave Mumbai. Not really because I loved the city. I don't love the city. I love the people. I made great friends, got lot of love and felt perfectly at home with the surroundings. I was kinda in sync with the nice life I had. Getting up in the morning in my Thane flat, going to the office by company bus sleeping, getting to the canteen(I keep forgetting the names even now :( ), having idli sambar or veg cheese sandwich. Then studying the library or working in the lab, chatting with friends, and my 'daughter', sipping coffee and discussing about Mo One etc. In one single email, all that changed. I have no regrets. I have made a promise to myse...

Her B'day

It was after that wonderful Alibaug trip that we went to celebrate her birthday in Mumbai , right after office hours. Went to KFC and ordered some buckets and a veg snacker or something. Clicked a few pics here and there and got out. For some reason her mood was really off. Pandey went to buy a couple of clothes. I hoped to cheer her up by gifting something myself( a gift from my mom just did not cut the cake). I went in and was completely confused. All kinds of clothes, women's garments were for sale, clothes about which I knew nothing, understood nothing and do nothing. I could only make out the price tags and the color. Well not even the color entirely. Anyway finally I found a sweet pink suit. A shop attendant really helped me a lot. She looked and behaved very sweetly. I bought it and quietly took the gift and kept it right in front of her. She hesitated in the beginning but ultimately gave in. I could not make out much of an expression from her face then. In fact she rem...
